In the context of the new "Global Network Readiness and Resource Initiative" (GNRRI), the project deals with the formulation and implementation of the new E-READINESS PROJECT

In the context of the new "Global Network Readiness and Resource Initiative" (GNRRI), the project deals with the formulation and implementation of the new National Strategy on Information Technology (NASIT) of the Romanian Government, which basically refers to the e-literacy and the degree of informatization in the Romanian society.

The "E-Readiness" project, which will be part of the NASIT, will assist the Romanian authorities to face the globalization process in terms of "connectivity" to international electronic sources of information, in terms of appropriate policy / regulatory framework related to telecommunications, internet access and e-commerce / e-business.

UNDP proposed to the government the formulation and implementation of a Programme for the improvement of the enabling environment for entrepreneurial activities (including, among others,
# appropriate legislation for entrepreneurial activity,
# anti-corruption and
# protection of intellectual property).
In line with the above, the UNDP Country Office Romania was requested to become a pilot country for the "Partners in Action" programme, aimed at encouraging a partnership approach between the UN agencies and the business community.

COMPUTER CLUBS FOR CHILDREN

This joint initiative of UNDP, NGO-s, the National Education Ministry and the private sector will provide access to computers and the Internet to children in orphanages and poor families. UNDP is supporting the establishment of two pilot computer clubs for children in the country (Bucharest sector 5, and Sibiu).
Training is provided on basic computer skills, to enable the youngsters to cope with the future requirements of an IT-based society.
