State of the (Orwellian) Union...
01/27/2010
I hope your Wednesday is day filled with victory over roadblocks and delays.
Tonight the President is going to deliver the State of The Union speech.
What a show it will be.
The President plans to bring his very best oratory skills.
His speechwriters have been working overtime to craft together words that will help the President "reconnect" with the people.
The President plans to once again inspire a groundswell of hope in the hearts and minds of the public, just as he did when running for office in 2008.
Ah, the words.
They'll be touching, inspirational, uplifting, encouraging, deeply moving to the point of being almost magical.
Wonderful words.
Bountiful words chosen for the highest impact.
But after the speech is over, it will be, after all, nothing more than mere words.
The President will be speaking Orwellian words.
He won't be describing the real state of the Union, but instead the fantasy one that has been put forth by the financial and political spinmasters who are serving their corporate interests.
I wish the President would tell it like it really is. If he did, this is what he'd likely say:
"Continue to bailout the bankers: Yes, we can!"
"Continue with Bush's ill-conceived wars: Yes, we can!"
"Continue to protect financial racketeering, Yes, we can!"
"Continue to act in secrecy while claiming transparency, Yes, we can!"
"Continue to reward those that caused this crisis, Yes, we can!"
"Continue to offshore jobs to low-priced foreign countries, compounding the unemployment crisis in America, Yes, we can!"
"Continue to offer phony reform while maintaining business as usual, Yes, we can!"
"Continue to chip away at the Constitutional rights of the people, Yes, we can!"
"Continue to ignore the voters' deep desire for real change, Yes, we can!"
"Continue to promote tyranny, Yes, we can!"
"Continue to expand government control with an iron fist over the lives of its citizens, Yes, we can!"
"Continue to squeeze the middle class out of existence, Yes, we can!"
"Continue to pretend that America stands for freedom and decency while leading the country down a path towards servitude and unrestrained oppression, Yes, we can!"
You won't hear the President say any of the above. No, his speech will be Orwellian double talk. Up will be down. Good will be bad. Lost jobs will be job growth.
Everything will sound so hopeful.
In the end, the few voters who listen to words and ignore the reality of actions will again be inspired by the soothing words of our President, claiming that he has the answers to all of our country's ills.
In reality, he has no genuine answers, he merely has words.
My warning is this:
Get ready for Financial Crisis Round 2.
The fraud continues. Toxic assets have not gone away. The license to steal is in the process of being expanded. The lies continue to be told. The Fed is monetizing without restraint. The Ponzi Scheme is being exposed.
Nearly every economic forecast that I made last year is unfolding daily in the mainstream financial news: increased foreclosure rates, commercial real estate sinking rapidly, unemployment rising, and other countries seeking alternatives to the U.S. Dollar.
This financial disaster is not over -- the financial system remains broken, insolvent, and full of corruption -- and to date nothing in our financial system has been genuinely fixed, only covered up so that the corruption can continue and further enrich the guilty.
Our leaders are not taking proper corrective action, but simply lining the pockets of themselves and their friends while digging a deeper economic hole for the rest of the country.
Round 2 of this crisis is going to be a much, much more severe calamity than what we've seen so far. Please, please take action to prepare now, while there is still time to act.
Very, very, very soon, that time will have run out.
Americans simply NEED to know about the con and corruption that is going on within the financial system, and about the crisis that is about to befall them.
Americans also need to know that when Round 2 hits, the solution is not to give the wealthy money men and their cronies trillions more in bailout money courtesy of every hard-working American.
We should not be giving the very same people who caused this crisis more money and power.
We should prosecute white collar crime, not reward it!
